The Metal Dome Silicone Rubber Keypad, the uppermost layer consists of premium-grade silicone, Positioned beneath each key within the silicone rubber layer, metal dome contacts are small, dome-shaped discs typically made of stainless steel or nickel-plated steel, also can choose silver and gold.

1.Four Main Types Of Metal Domes

  • Circular Metal Domes: Circular domes offer longer lifecycle durability compared to triangle domes, averaging >= 1 million actuations.
  • Four-Leg Metal Domes: Designed for circuits needing both positive and negative traces, these domes provide a robust clicking feel with sizes ranging from 5mm to 20mm and forces from 125-500 gf.
  • Triangle Metal Domes: Triangle domes excel in applications requiring high activation forces up to 6,000 gf, ideal for high-temperature environments due to their adhesive-free mounting capability.
  • Oblong Metal Domes: Oblong domes are tailored for compact switches on circuit boards, offering flexibility in size (from 3mm x 4mm to 51mm x 13.70mm) and force range (100-500 gf).

                 

                 

2.Metal Dome Different Structure

(1) Single-Layer Structure:

  • Description: The metal dome is positioned beneath a single layer of silicone rubber.
  • Features: Simple design suitable for basic tactile feedback and straightforward assembly.

(2) Double-Layer Structure:

  • Description: Includes an additional spacer layer between the silicone rubber and the metal dome.
  • Advantages: Enhances tactile feel similar to membrane switches, improves contact with the PCB, and includes effective vent holes to prevent dust and ensure durability.

(3) EMI Printing:

  • Description: Involves applying a layer of EMI (Electromagnetic Interference) shielding material or conductive ink on top of the silicone rubber.
  • Purpose: Provides protection against electromagnetic interference, ensuring the keypad’s reliability in electronic devices.

(4) Rubber Adhesive Layer:

  • Description: A layer of silicone adhesive applied to the underside of the keypad.
